On january 7th we enjoyed a talk by Gail Ward of Responsible Photography called ‘Home and Away’.

Gail worked in the Travel industry for many years and has lived overseas, especially in Greece. The first half of her talk was about work she had done for SOS Children’s Villages including children in Bella Rus affected by the Chernobyl disaster.

She also showed images from Ethiopia, Morocco, Colombia and Mongolia where she has organised travel for very small groups using her links with local eco friendly partners and home stays and also done photographic projects.

In the second half she showed images taken at various places in the UK but particularly the Goodwood Festival of Speed with it’s cars and celebrities and the Goodwod Revival Festival. Her key message was ‘to enjoy your photography but think about how you share your images so that your copyright or the trust of anyone you photographed isn’t compromised.
This was an unusual and thought provoking evening from a clear, engaged, enthusiastic and principled photographer
Gail is always happy to receive ‘pre-loved’ digital cameras in good working order (complete with leads and batteries) for use with her ‘Responsible Photography’ projects
