We run three league-style competitions during the year (colour print, mono print and digital), as well as two one-off events (Exhibition and Endeavour) and two ‘photo of the year’ play-offs (print and digital).

Print Competitions (Colour and Mono)

There are two print competions each year, one for colour, one for mono. You can submit up to two pictures each round, which will be rated by an external judge on a scale of 1-10.

The winner of the standard class may move up to the Advanced class. Full details are provided in the Competition Rules document below. Please send a PDI of the prints you are entering to cheamprintentries@gmail.com

Projected Digital Image Competition:

There is also a Projected Digital Image (PDI) competition each year.

You can submit up to two pictures each round, fitting in a box 1600 pixels wide by 1200 pixels tall, which will be rated by an external judge on a scale of 1-10.

The winner of the standard class may move up to the Advanced class.

How to prepare a PDI for club competitions.

Creative Competition

This is an open competition run on the same evening as the Projected Digital Image Competition.

Entries in this do not count towards the main competitions and is intended to give members a chance to experiment and try something different without impacting their scores in the main competitions.

Two images per round may be entered. 

The Judge will comment and offer an opinion but not score them merely picking out their favourites.

There is no group segregation in this class.

All images entered in this class are still eligible to be entered in the main competitions.

Endeavour Cup

The Endeavour Cup is a PDI (digital) competition. Entrants submit a set of six images under a single title. Winners are chosen by an external judge, but no scores are given.

Photograph of the Year

Images entered during the current season in the Print Competition (mono and colour) and the PDI Competition are eligible to enter the two Photograph of the Year competitions, where they are re-rated by an external judge to identify an overall winner across all classes. Competition is obviously strong.
